Tactical Appraisal[]

The Honeychurch is a lightweight trench with a lot of utility - whilst it's not quite as offensively focused as the Selker, it provides a big selection of turrets and has the ability to mount either two single-slot weapons or a single 2-slot weapon.

The Honeychurch is indisputably the strongest solo chassis for Survival due to its perfect loadout of emplacements. A solo survivor effectively needs one heavy (Sniper Turret), one light (Machine Gun), and two support (Dampener and Collector), which conveniently enough is the exact loadout the Honeychurch provides.

Beyond solo runs, it turns out being capable of cramming all the necessary turrets on one Engineer chassis makes the Honeychurch one of, if not the most effective chassis to bring to Survival.

In essence, the only downside to the Honeychurch's emplacement emphasis is that it doesn't break the rules and bring a fifth slot, or that it didn't include a bizarre Mk IV-II that trades its solo light emplacement for a second heavy, because truly the only downside to the Honeychurch is that it demands you pick your heavy carefully, and that choice is often made for you by virtue of the ubiquitous strength of the Piercing Sniper Turrets. But in the event that a Honeychurch with two heavies existed, the Selker would lose its identity and purpose.

When it comes to direct firepower, the Honeychurch is only technically superior to the Selker and realistically is merely on par, making it tie for lowest possible weapon-based damage output of all Trenches. Both engineering chassis can only equip two slots total, in different configurations, meaning at best a Selker or Honeychurch is running two Fiestas and effectively doing 1/3rd the damage of a well outfitted Assault.

The Honeychurch is simultaneously one of the most powerful chassis in the game by virtue of a near perfect loadout coupled with the low costs of an Engineer, while also still very much being an Engineer and holding the weaknesses therein, namely being extremely vulnerable when compared to the larger chassis and having difficulty putting damage out directly through their own weaponry.

Regardless, alongside the Karlsson, the Honeychurch ranks among the most successful chassis types in Iron Brigade.

Player Notes[]

  • The Honeychurch shares a "Side Grade" quirk with the McGarry and Hamer, that being that their version numbers don't match up with the "Pure" chassis like the Karlsson, Woodruff, and Selker. These three "Side Grade" chassis end in Mk IV instead of Mk V, this is purely superfluous as the "Side Grade" chassis stats line up perfectly with the "Pure" alternatives, at the various progression points. IE: the Mk IV Honeychurch has the same stats as the Mk V Selker because both are the final upgrade attained at the same point in the story.
